I've been wondering why there are people who are so relaxed reviling their brethren when seeing them carrying the Bible, or when someone talks about spirituality, chances are that person on the limelight would be scorned. I know for sure that everyone knows that this conduct is not something funny but sometimes we're one of the culprits who laugh at it ridiculously.
Bringing the Bible as much as pondering its good news keeps one's life to be organized which leads gradually to a holy life. There are a lot of routines to keep one's interest to be updated like maintaining a Facebook or Twitter account to constantly interact with people and explore exciting perks, acquisition of high-end gadgets to be at home with peers, costly apparel to look good, to name a few, but deprivation of spiritual nourishment is robbing of a complete life. Possession of this external make-over is not bad at all because these showcase the fruits of one's labor which brings gratification. However, personal grooming is not merely on physical appearance but most importantly is on spiritual faculty.
Deuteronomy 10:12-13 And now Israel, what does the Lord, your God ask of you, but to fear the Lord, your God, and follow His ways exactly, to love and serve the Lord, your God, with all your heart and all your soul, to keep the commandments & and statues of the Lord which I enjoin on you today for your own good.
God calls everyone to be holy. Holiness is something that is not overlooked but something that is looked up to with loyalty as this gives true meaning to aspirations whether at home, profession or community. Ironically, people are trembling when following house, corporate, social and government rules but tend to be overly lax when it comes to God's edicts.
1 Thessalonians 4:7-8 For God did not call us to impurity but to holiness. Therefore, whoever disregards this, disregards not a human being but God, who also gives His Holy Spirit to you."
Holiness is not boring as others have mistakenly perceive it. Just imagine the world if not guided by God's commandments which is holiness itself. God's law is not there to threaten but to discipline. Any home without a regulation is disoriented. A corporation without a prescribed ordinance never prospers. Leadership w/o being balanced by a law which defines its morals never optimizes its ingenuity for the country.
1 Peter 1:13-16 Therefore, gird up the loins of your mind, live soberly and set your hopes completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Like obedient children, do not act in compliance with the desires of your former ignorance but, as He who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in every aspect of your conduct, for it is written, "Be holy because I am holy."
There could be laughter in the foolishness of sins but at the end of the day, the scornful acts could be no more. The tears of regrets and anger defeat the disdainful gesture. For example, one turns to be happy when arousing people to laugh by making sport of ones face but is angered when somebody insulted someone who is dearest to the other. Corrupt politicians could be happy as they possess bundles of cold cash, but once a
beloved is cheated and harmed, anger and retaliation turns be the initial reaction. Murderers laugh when witnessing the killing of their enemy, but when loved ones are massacred, tears of bitterness and revenge become a sweeter reaction at an impulse.
After comparison of experiences, holiness is living a luxurious life. The beauty of holiness is fathomless. Holiness loves and respects individuality, harmonizes and builds up community. Holiness is both humaneness & Godliness which advocate the common good for the glory of God. Holiness speaks of love. Love is holiness.
