Forgiveness that is
repressed is anger that is nursed within our inner self. Any anger that is kept than released can
aggravate circumstance and is continually replayed in one's hearts allowing
bitterness to grow within.
Inability to forgive just one person would allow one self to be
embittered more and more. One can be a
slave to this emotion.
It's
easier said than done but humans need to forgive should she/he desires peace of
mind because anger has detrimental effects: increased
risk of heart attack, increased risk of stroke, increased risk of ulcers,
increased risk of frequent illness, stomach problems, headaches and depression;
and other physical and psychological effects.
When one is caught in a
very disgusting circumstance, it is impossible to keep ourselves away from feeling
certain emotions in a minute, even the Bible could attest on this. However, this anger
should not cause anyone to sin as the Scripture also reminds when it says,
"Be angry but do not sin; do not let the sun set on your
anger,"(Ephesians 4:26). Likewise,
the Scripture teaches not to condemn the sinner but the sin when it says,
"For, although we are in the flesh, we do not battle according to the
flesh, for the weapons of our battle are not of flesh but are enormously
powerful, capable of destroying fortresses. We destroy arguments and every
pretension raising itself against the knowledge of God, and take every thought
captive in obedience to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:3-5).
To get rid of this anger,
it's highly encouraged to ask God for insight and mercy, to see the side of the
offender to be able to give mercy and forgive.
God never forsakes us when we ask according to His will than
retaliation, according to His love than indifference, according to His
gentleness than violence.
PRAYER
Father, be constantly on our side when circumstances trigger us
anger and through your gracious and merciful heart, we earnestly ask you to
help us express our anger without sinning
but ends up in forgiveness... Amen.
