Holiness: Tough Errand or Easy Job?

By: Allan Elutin Ecleo

When human begins to be conscious about her/his environment especially during childhood, life was uncomplicated because of hearts' simplicity that is obedient to parent's words.  Everybody is creative conceptualizing different games with playmates, and at times has conflicts with them, but after a few moments everyone is already at home with one another without harboring any grudge against anyone who offended others but recovers the same friendship as if nothing happened previously.

However, when we grow up and mingle with different types of influences, the simple life has been intricate. At this stage, humans learn to spend the whole night for nothing but on vices and selfish gratification.

Unknowingly, the simple lifestyle which is holiness itself gradually becomes tainted and accepted as a way of life.  The forbidden acts are actually the tough ones which we remain doing because it has already been in our system.

To establish why sinning is tougher than holiness, we should first ask these questions: how much time, money, and effort  do I spend in a bar/nightlife, or how does it affect my personal life? According to medical studies, sleep deprivation is a big public safety hazard everyday on the road (esp. for the motorists), hurts the cognitive process  which impairs attention, alertness, concentration, reasoning, and problem solving; cause sleep disorders and chronic sleep loss which lead to serious health problems like heart disease, heart attack, heart failure, irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes, kills sex drive.

Given the enumerated effects of this lifestyle already suggest that sinning is yes pleasurable but tougher in the long run. Whereas when we stay at home with the family after work or school, we don't compromise our health, financial stability, tranquility, serenity and security.

Indeed Jesus must be true when He says that keeping away from Him would be nothing (John 8: 51 Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever keeps my word will never see death.")
