Life is beautiful whether we like it or not. God would always give us the significant people (corporate employment, trade partners, family members, friends and even strangers) as cohorts to maximize enjoyment of this life, be it personal, filial or communal.
1 Timothy 5:8 And whoever does not provide for relatives and especially family members has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
1 Corinthians 10:13 No trial has come to you but what is human. God is faithful and will not let you be tried beyond your strength; but with the trial he will also provide a way out, so that you may be able to bear it.
Personally, who would expect that from the remotest area of the Philippines (Biri Northern Samar) where we have been raised without any technology except a transistor radio, the whole family would permanently mix up with the city's culture.
Like anyone else, there 's a time that we would miss our birthplace and visiting our relatives could be an occasional part of the itinerary especially with the budget preparedness. In an opportunity like this, there is no other way out but to pass through the seas when going to Visayas.
Life is unpredictable so whether we like it or not because of some accidents and negligent sailors, travelers sometimes are endangered up to the extent of losing lives. In fact, there has been a number of maritime disasters according to our media reports.
Luke 12:37-40 Blessed are those servants whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival. Amen, I say to you, he will gird himself, have them recline at table, and proceed to wait on them. And should he come in the second or third watch and find them prepared in this way, blessed are those servants. Be sure of this: if the master of the house had known the hour when the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. You also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come."
This reminds me when I went back to the province to pursue my studies three years ago. Thinking that it was already the end of it, I was like mummified when there was a subsequent striking of waves on the boat we rode. Thanks be to God because although I could not pray anymore because of terror, we survived the crisis because the wave that followed next was not as big as the first. Otherwise, it's the shark's petition for a festive meal that we were wrestling with.
In an unavoidable circumstance like this , we should be reminded by some tips when the ship's captain shouts to abandon the ship
Listening and obeying the crew is the most important part of a nautical evacuation, but what if you’re not given direction? A few things to keep in mind.
While all cruise ships and emergency situations are different, most nautical experts& agree you should:
• Make sure you know where your personal flotation device is. If you don’t, ask the crew and make sure you know how to put it on. If you have children, make sure there are enough devices and be sure to find the right size.
• Familiarize yourself with the ship. Look for exits, look for lifeboats. If the ship doesn’t give an escape drill, ask for one.
• Know where you can receive direction if the crew speaks a different language. Most announcements are made in various languages including English.
• Listen for all announcements and the international evacuation signal — seven short horn blasts followed by one long one.
• Only attempt to escape on your own if there is no authority present to give directions.
• If you can’t hear instructions or the crew isn’t helping, head up and off the ship. Do not head to the centre or inner levels of the ship.
• Look for the quickest route off, which may not be the shortest route.
• Do not take elevators or escalators.
• If you weren’t given a lifeboat drill and aren’t sure where to find one, look for crews assisting passengers.
