Ireland’s legislation on abortion will add more
deaths to the global trend of 56 million induced abortions ANNUALLY which is
even ridiculous than the death of wars which is only about 150 million
The Republic of Ireland has voted tremendously to
overturn the abortion ban by 66.4% to 33.6%.[1]
HOW DID THE WOMEN IN IRELAND RESORT TO PURSUING
ABORTION?
There was this X Case, a case of a girl who was
raped[2]
by a man known to her. She sought a termination in the UK but the then Attorney
General sought an injunction preventing her from travelling. She made a
petition and the Supreme Court found in her favor, resulting the Government to
promulgate terminations when a mother’s life was at risk including a risk to
her life from the likelihood of suicide.
Thus, the Protection of Life During Pregnancy Act
emerged as an outcome of the X case, allowing for abortions when a mother’s
life is at risk, including by suicide. In a case of a real and considerable
danger to a woman’s life arising from a physical health condition, an
obstetrician/gynecologist and a second relevant specialist must mutually reach
a decision and officially state that the abortion is the only treatment that
will save the mother’s life. Three specialists are needed once the danger to a
woman’s life is at risk by suicide.
Currently, abortion is only allowed when a
woman's life is at risk, but not in cases of rape, incest or fatal abnormality.
THE CATHOLIC CHURCH TEACHING ON ABORTION
Since the 1st century, the Church has affirmed
the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and
remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either
as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law: You shall not kill
(5th Commandment) the embryo by abortion and shall not cause the newborn to
perish. God, the Lord of life, has entrusted to men the noble mission of
safeguarding life, and men must carry it out in a manner worthy of themselves.
Life must be protected with the utmost care from the moment of conception:
abortion and infanticide are abominable crimes.
(Catechism of the Catholic Church CCC 2271 )
Since embryo must be treated from conception as a
person, it must be defended in its integrity, cared for, and healed, as far as
possible, like any other human being (Catechism of the Catholic Church CCC
2274)
IMPLICATION OF THIS PROMULGATION TO ABORTION RATE
During 2010–2014, about 56 million induced
abortions took place each year globally.[3]
This figure represents an increase from 50 million annually during 1990–1994,
brought by population growth.
As a consequence of this promulgation on
termination of pregnancy, this rate will multiply all the more in the future.
ARE WE EVEN PREPOSTEROUS THAN THE WORLD WARS AND MUSLIM TERRORISM?
At least 108 million people were killed in wars
in the twentieth century. Estimates for the total number killed in wars
throughout all of human history range from 150 million to 1 billion.[4]
Compared with the number of deaths due to
terrorism worldwide between 1970 to 2016 which is only more than 40,000,[5]
simply implies that Christians are more outrageous than the terrorists – CHRISTIANS
INDEED ARE THE SILENT MURDERERS OF HELPLESS BABIES.
If every year, the abortion rate is 56 million
annually, then it means to say that we’re even harsher than the wars, because
abortion continues annually. This at least corroborates with the Family
Research Council's statistics which discloses a rate of 1 billion abortion for
100 countries in 1 century[6]
(There are 195 countries[7]
in the world today which comprises 193 countries that are member states of the
United Nations and 2 countries that are non-member: the Holy See and the State
of Palestine; Taiwan which the United Nations considers that is represented by
the People's Republic of China
The Cook Islands and Niue).
