The Vatican's "Serpent" Hall: Misconceptions, Wide-Angle Lenses, and Art Criticism!

👑😊✨ Vivat Jesus!

As a matter of fact, there is no intentional serpent architectural design in the Paul VI Audience Hall.

The idea that the building resembles a snake is an internet-driven optical illusion and conspiracy theory.

Pier Luigi Nervi

Birth: June 21, 1891 in Sondrio, Italy,

Death: January 9, 1979 in Rome, Italy, at the age of 87.

Actual Intent and Engineering: The hall was designed by the renowned Italian architect Pier Luigi Nervi and completed in 1971 using modernist reinforced concrete engineering. Its ribbed vaults, oval stained-glass windows, and structural pillars were built purely for functional, structural, and acoustic purposes rather than to mimic an animal shape.

Camera Distortion: The serpent-like appearance only emerges in photographs or videos taken with wide-angle or fisheye lenses, which distort the building's actual geometry.

Pericle Fazzini

Born: May 4, 1913 (Grottammare, Italy)

Died: December 4, 1987

(Rome, Italy, at age 74)

Original Masterpiece

The Artwork: Criticisms regarding a "serpent" or "demon" often misinterpret the central stage sculpture, The Resurrection by Pericle Fazzini, which actually depicts Jesus Christ rising from a nuclear-bomb-torn crater in the Garden of Gethsemane as a symbol of peace.
