Everyone loves cheering for a famous athlete or for favorite sports team in a competition setting. Even shy or quiet folks go out of their comfort zones to shout and cheer on their players on sporting events or even when watching them on TV.

All need relaxation and just have fun amidst the pressures at home, office and school, but what human needs is to have spotless and devout entertainment but not worldly, errant fun.

1. Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Total Earnings: $300 million 


Known as Floyd Joy Mayweather, Jr., Floyd is an American professional boxer, renowned as the very best boxer of his generation, and regarded as one of  the all time greatest fighters to ever live.  

His $300 million year breaks the record which was previously occupied by Tiger Woods who banked $115 million in 2008. His May 2 fight against Manny Pacquiao smashed multiple boxing financial records, including Pay-per-view buys (4.4 million), total gate ($73 million) and sponsorships ($13 million). He has typically eschewed endorsement contracts, but signed agreements with Burger King, Hublot, FanDuel and  prior to the May fight.

2. Manny Pacquiao

Emmanuel "Manny" Dapidran Pacquiao, is a Filipino world champion professional boxer, elected to the Philippine House of Representatives at the age of 32. He has also been engaged in basketball, singing  and acting. 

Manny's $125 million take home pay for his bout against Floyd Mayweather was four times his previous high for a boxing match (he also bagged $23 million for his November fight against Chris Algieri). He increased his income further through endorsement contracts with Nestle's, Nike, Wonderful Pistachios, Foot Locker, Butterfinger among others in the Philippines.

3. Cristiano Ronaldo

Advertisements: $27 million
Total Earnings: $79.6 million 


Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays for Spanish club real Madrid and Portugal national team. He is a forward and serves as captain for Portugal. The three-time and reigning FIFA best player in the world has achieved 60 or more goals in each of the last four calendar years. Likewise, he’s the world's most well-liked athlete, with 102 million Facebook and 35 million Twitter followers.

4. Lionel Messi

Takings/Payouts: $51.8 million

Total Earnings: $73.8 million 


Lionel Andres "Leo" Messi Cuccittini is an Argentine professional footballer who plays for Spanish club FC Barcelona Spanish and the Argentina national team as a forward, and the captain of the national team. 

In 2014, Barcelona recompensed their record four-time FIFA player of the year with a $9 million a year increase in his 7th contract since 2005 taking him to a whopping $50 million a year through 2018. The Argentine is reputed for most goals in Barca competitions, most goals in La Liga competitions, most goals scored in a calendar year and most hat tricks scored.

5. Roger Federer

Roger Federer is a Swiss professional tennis player who is currently ranked world’s No. 2 by the Association of Tennis Professionals. Many commentators and players recognized him as the greatest tennis player of all time

He maintains the records for most singles Grand Slam wins (17) and career prize money ($90 million). His endorsement contract is filled with long-term deals with renowned companies like Rolex, Nike, and Credit Suisse.  His contract with Mercedes-Benz was extended at the end of 2014 for another three years

6. LeBron James

Takings/Payouts: $20.8 million 
Advertisements: $44 million
Total Earnings: $64.8 million


LeBron Raymone James is an American professional basketball player currently playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association, who has started at the small forward and power forward positions.

He emerges as the first NBA player to appear in five straight NBA Finals since the Boston Celtics dynasty of the 1960s. The NBA's top pitchman added Kia Motors in 2014 to his endorsement proejects, which already included Coca-Cola, Nike, Samsung, McDonald's, Upper Deck, Audemars Piguet, Beats by Dre, and Tencent. Among active players at $340 million in the U.S. during 2014, the sales of his signature Nike shoes were tops

7. Kevin Durant

Kevin Wayne Durant is an American professional basketball player who currently plays with the Oklahoma City Thunder  of the National Basketball Association, played the small forward position for the Thunder, formerly the Seattle SuperSonics. 

He recorded a blockbuster, 10-year deal with Nike in 2014 that could be valued up to $300 million, exclusive of royalties. It is the richest endorsement contract of any active athlete and is one of a dozen sponsors for the four-time scoring champ. The 2015-16 seasons are the final year on the $85 million contract he signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2010.
