Societies may have a dissimilar accent as every
culture is nurtured differently of its environment which forms part of its
individuality and personality.
Nevertheless, some people ridicule people whose
pronunciation is different from how they speak words or the way words should be
appropriately pronounced even if they are talking about the same.
Just like
this Egyptian celebrity’s who was guested in the national TV show
“Lahonwas” which turned to be viral after she laughed about a Filipino using
the English language with a different accent.
Ostensibly, the Filipino was conversing with a
customer in Dubai, which Mais Hamdan demonstrated like:
“How are you Ma’am and Sir?”
“Good morning!”
“How are you today?”
“Marry Christmas.”
(instead of MERRY CHRISTMAS)
“Ma’am, today we have a new collaction.” (which
should be pronounced COLLECTION)
“You can buy everything at 50%. Ma’am, we that one in black and that one in
yellow.”
“No Ma’am, we don’t have red in that one. If you want that one Ma’am, I will call my
supervisor, and get from the other store.
I will ask that one.”
“Ma’am, if you come back tomorrow, that 50% will
finish.”
“Ma’am, you’re so pretty.”
“Oh, my God, she is so pretty.”
Although it shows an uneducated gesture from an
educated individual/s (including the host of the show) and thus offensive, it
calls for an open-mindedness and tolerance, as even in the Philippines itself,
there are fellow Filipinos who mock us Visayans, for example, when we
mispronounce vowels or speak poor English.

wise pours out knowledge, but the mouth of fools spurts forth folly.
PROVERBS 18l5-7 The fool's lips lead him into strife, and his mouth provokes a beating. The
