Our Father, Ely Tubelleza Paez Ecleo, a stroke survivor for more than 6 years. |
I don’t
know how it will be possible but this time I am compelled to knock at everyone’s
heart for financial aid, as the family’s support has not been sufficient to
address our current crisis brought by twice admission of our father at the
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) within these couple of weeks. He has been
in the hospital for two (2) weeks now and supposed to be released last Wednesday (March 1, 2017) but could not because the hospital never allows an exit of the patient by just leaving a promissory note for the remaining bill.
The
family has been able to raise around Php185,800.00 (sourced out from family
members, taken from a cousin and sisters' friend), which has been eaten up gradually
by the ICU daily expenses in the hospital.
While
others complained why did we admit our father to a private hospital instead of
the government-run, we don’t blame for such an impression because the hospital
rate in a private hospital is really that huge.
In fact, our patient can’t be released without paying the Php132,000.00 total balance. The more our patient stays in the hospital,
the more the hospital bill escalates rapidly.
To
cope with this, my brother approached the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) for financial support but this will count days if approved, as the schedule of
the interview with regard to his application is set on April 18, 2017.
I let my siblings for their decisions on admitting our father in a private hospital because I’m aware how they feel encountering other people who were brought to the public hospital but did not survive brought by crowded patients, inadequate facilities, incompetent medical teams, etc. In fact, my niece has died recently in a public hospital just from a simple fever. If we brought our father to a private hospital, it’s not because of whatsoever which others feel but to save our father until full existence of his life in this earth. He had gone through a lot of difficulties in his entire life caused by a broken home and impoverishment, and what we want for him is to at least serve him while he is still alive and let him experience what he had missed, simply because we love him.
