My mother Julie Ecleo has been
noticed for her being religious on Praying the Rosary since my childhood and up
to this time. She would really wake up
as early as 4 or 5AM to say the Rosary.
The more that I am encouraged by her
devotion.
Why?
In 1978, the police called Msgr. Kerr
in the middle of the night to go with them to a sorority house in Tallahassee.
Upon arrival, he was told that all but one of the girls in the house were dead
or near death, slain by the notorious serial killer, Ted Bundy.
After the last rites taken to one of
the college girls who was dying, the police on the scene asked Fr. Kerr to talk
to the girl who had survived the massacre untouched.
The young woman who was almost daze
and refused to speak to anyone except to a priest told Fr. Kerr that her mother
had made her promise, before leaving to college for the first time, that she
would pray the Rosary every night before bed for protection even if she fall
asleep, which she did that night. She related that the Rosary beads were still
clutched in her hands when Bundy came into her room to murder her as he had
with the other girls.
Years later when Bundy sentenced to a
death row sought out Msgr. Kerr as a spiritual counselor. Throughout the
sessions, Bundy gave details to Mgr. Kerr that when he entered the girl’s room,
he just wasn’t able to continue with his spree, he dropped his weapon, and
escaped – some mysterious force prevented him from doing so - such is the power
of our Mother s protective mantle.
Contrary to the non-Catholic belief
that the Rosary is unscriptural, the beauty of the Rosary Prayer can be sourced
