Masturbation: Controlling the seemingly uncontrollable




Earlier, the cause and effect of masturbation were discussed helping everyone to be conscious about many important reasons to stop it as pointed out. If one’s WHY is strong enough, it is then much easier to undertake and run through the HOW. 

Most brethrens out there desire to stop because of the negative side effects and scientific factors, and from here self-control is promising, which is the prerequisite of self-respect.

To stop masturbating or any bad habit for that matter demands the exercise of self-control. For example, running, cycling, or lifting weights which are the exercises of self-control that requires energy requires power. This is called willpower.

If the amount of willpower is greater than the desire to masturbate or any bad habit then one can fruitfully practice self-control and not masturbate. It’s just that majority don’t seem to have that level of willpower. If the desire to masturbate is greater than the level of willpower then control is at stake.

Nevertheless, giving up is not the name of the game but PERSEVERANCE. By following these principles, one will enhance willpower:


1). Go to sleep early.

Get early nights if desiring for willpower. All professional athletes who want complete recovery spend as much time sleeping as possible, 9pm at the latest.  One should be serious about proper sleep to be concern about health, nutrition and fitness.

2). Get enough sugar daily.

There are trillions and trillions of cells in human’s body and they all run on glucose. Human willpower is fueled by glucose. For maximum willpower and the ability to stand firm against temptation, one must eat lots of clean burning carbohydrates like fresh, ripe fruits, vegetables and whole grains. 

Researches tell that sleep deprivation impairs willpower and glucose metabolism. So go to sleep early and eat big on the fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.


3). Eat a plant based diet.

Human’s willpower machine functioned through prefrontal cortex in the brain and research discloses that eating a plant based diet increases ability for self control, which is not surprising because fruits, vegetables, and grains give the highest quality nutrients for most advantageous brain function. 

Eating junk food which comes not from nature hijacks one’s brain instead of having control, as the saying goes, “You are literally made of what you ate yesterday and last year.” So any desire of a cleaner and energetic tomorrow packed with willpower, making friends with bananas, rice, beans and other good food is a superior choice.

Eating dead, oily, greasy, and processed food makes body will to act dead and greasy. Even Former President Bill ClintonMike TysonCyclist  Lance Armstrong, ultramarathon runner Michael Arnstein and UFC fighter Mac Danzig are vegetarians, among the few perform the best because of plant based diet.


4). Befriend with water.

Remain hydrated. Make it a habit to take at least a liter of water as you open your eyes in the morning.  

The goal is to pee clear all throughout the day. Dehydration is detected when urine is turning yellow or orange.

5). Exercise

Taking a reasonable amount of a clean whole vegan food, getting enough water and sleep (as explained earlier) provided the needed energy to move your body. Exercise will be natural, not a forced labor, not because some orders to do so but because of will power for personal gain.  Taking more exercise in the morning would be the best choice to get all the good brain chemicals to feel good all day. “We must all suffer from one of two pains: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. 6). Pray & Forgive

Break the ice to ask for grace if praying is not a habit. Look for a Bible and start reading the gospels and ask God for comprehension of His message, to do what is right by talking to Him like a "friend".

Research divulges that forgiving oneself is stronger. If noticed, the current popular psychology is to tell people that masturbation is good and that one should not feel bad. If masturbation is so good then why people feel bad and conceal masturbation?

While in progress of improving self-control, utilize the benefits of forgiveness. Habits are not usually changed overnight but take years. Nevertheless, there is time needed to learn better habits. 


Negative self talk makes it more difficult and punitive. This is not to rationalize the behavior but it is one way of releasing from the burden of guilt. Everyone fails but everyone stands up to where they fall. 

Forgive people to save glucose.  Taking time to be mad at others, harboring grudges, worrying, blaming, and living with this inner friction is wasting of glucose which the body needs most.  Having self-control is more precious than any hostility against another. One loses willpower without forgiving others. Self-control generates income and pays big rewards; anger creates an energy sink that drains it all away.

7). A whole meal of just papaya after a good workout.

Fasting gives the body a time to rest and heal just like other muscles. Fasting is often recommended for all sorts of addictions because they lose their power if you fast long enough. Fasting guarantees to break addiction on masturbation. The problem with fasting is that no one can fast forever. The greatest benefit of fasting is that it makes it much easier to enjoy eating clean whole natural foods. 



A whole meal of just papaya is recommended especially after a good workout. Make it a habit to fast just one to a few days a month typically. It’s impractical to hire fasting police to monitor so regulation can be made (some days only water, some days only juice, some days all fruit.) 

To recap, fasting is taken to help to enjoy eating natural foods like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains in abundance. Fasting is just a means to get the results desired.

8). Be involved in a community

Groups that help with addiction issues are helpful but groups that influence to eat better,  exercise more, sleep early, and live a high energy life are genuinely helpful. One can benefit from failures of others. Share tips and encourage people who fall down a 1000 times.  This strengthens commitment to will power and theirs.


Getting involved with others' problems lessens personal problems. Spending time with the deprived (orphanages, prisons, troubled youth) helps to be grateful and be reminded of where one comes from in terms of brokenness and insufficiency.  The most self-control will be stumbled upon in selfless service. 

9). Journalizing 

Nothing exists until writing it down. To stop masturbation, take a full life’s responsibility. Stop trusting memory or instincts.  Don’t allow feelings to interfere with the facts of reality of the world that is not actually real. Figure out the cause and patterns of addiction to provide objective data, to establish sets of extreme valuable data.

a)  Food Journal 

Account what time to eat and identify the calories and ratio of carbs:fat:protein. The goal should be high-carbohydrate low-fat with percentages around 80:10:10.

b)  Sleep Journal

Make charts to be aware of what time to wake up every morning and what time to go to sleep every night. Place this near beside the bed for accessible marking. Based on experience disclosed by the testimony, going to bed earlier from 7:30-8:30 would give enormous self-control the next day. Staying up after 9:00 is a consistent and reliable forecaster of self-control failure.
