102 Famous personalities of past and present generation transformed and defeated by drug addiction (Page 8)

81. ROBERT DOWNEY, JR.

He is known as someone who had a massive drug addiction when he was still a young actor. He was so addicted that it influenced his acting career. That is why he was often passed over for roles. Although he first tried drugs at the young age of six, it wasn’t until 1996 that he was first arrested on a drug-related case.

Unfortunately, his drug addiction ruined his love life as well, so Sarah Jessica Parker broke up with him. He has achieved an inspiring comeback from addiction after an upsetting period with drug abuse.

Finally, he was convinced to go to rehab and managed to kick the habit.

82). ROBIN WILLIAMS

This superb comedian and actor had a problem with alcohol and cocaine addiction in his early career.[3]

After being sober for more than 20 years, he relapsed into drinking in 2004. He admittedly fought to stay sober the rest of his life. He checked himself into rehab in 2006 and, in 2009, had heart surgery that is said to have affected him extremely.

A toxicology report revealed, however, that he was not under the influence of alcohol or any illicit drugs at the time of his 2014 death. The Oscar-winning actor was tragically found dead last year in August – the result of an apparent suicide.

83). SAMUEL JACKSON

He admits that he abused alcohol and cocaine, and even got overdosed on heroin several times. On those occasions, he was sent to New York rehab more than once, but as it usually happens, he would always end up escaping. His cocaine role in Jungle Fever was therapeutic to him, because it made him realize its peril.  Consequently, he was enthused to quit. He said that kicking the habits caused his career to skyrocket.

84). SCOTT WEILAND

The former Stone Temple Pilots frontman had a long drug-related rap sheet before his tragic death brought by an accidental overdose in 2015.

85). STEPHANIE PRATT

She divulged that she began smoking crystal meth as a young teen and struggled with depression and an eating disorder on top of it.

86). STEPHEN KING

He fought alcohol addiction, but has been sober since his family staged an intervention in the late '80s.

87). STEVEN TYLER

In an interview with Billboard magazine in 2014, he disclosed that he’s drug addict and alcoholic and fight it every day.
Steven Tyler is one of the celebrities who had started using drugs before he was famous. His addiction has roots in his high school era, and it turned into something much more serious in Aerosmith period of publicity and free models. He admitted that his addiction got worse because of the class struggles, difficulties to cope with amazing success and poor relationships. In 1986, his band mates convinced him to go to rehab and he won the battle with drugs!

88). TATUM O’NEAL

As a result of dealing with her mentally unstable mother, he turned to cocaine by age twenty. He claims her father was a horrible addict, blaming him for her own drug problems later in life, adding that she was repeatedly molested by his drug dealer. Despite refuting her allegations, her father was arrested in 2008 after police found a large supply of methamphetamines in his home.

Her own son has been struggling with addiction. Kevin McEnroe, son to Tatum and tennis legend John McEnroe, was detained last year for a list of drug offenses.
