There had been a lot of black
propaganda against me, most recently in the recent months that I have
withdrawn because of my cancer. I have already shown you that I am what I am
now. I am what I was today. And what I will be tomorrow. (1)
We
are not looking for an ordinary leader or an ordinary manager or
administrator. We are looking for the President of the Philippines. So……I think that the first qualification should be international
stature that would be of great help to Philippine foreign and domestic
policy. (1)
But
more importantly, I repeat, there are three qualifications to become
President.
Academic Excellence. (2)
I have Doctorate in Juridical Science from
America. And I was Valedictorian in all my classes. Those who sit at the back
cannot be a president of the Philippines.
Second, professional
excellence. I was conferred by Magsaysay Award for Government Service, “for
bold and moral leadership in cleaning up a corrupt government agency.” Do
they have such? (2)
Third, moral
excellence. Aside from these two excellences there is moral excellence which
is the most important. (3)
Unfortunately, there is no machine that you can
attach to a human being so that you can’t tell whether that person is honest
or not.
Flatterer perhaps,
possibly with bright and breezy mouth, loquacious maybe telling anything
whatever that comes out from the mind. So think of this enterprise that we’re
doing consientiously.
Were choosing for someone who will be a leader
within the next six years. We can’t choose merely because you like it or it’s
trending in your gang, tribes or school.
We are all united in this endeavor to improve and
reform the Philippines. Others think that we’ll be permanently like this. No.
Fight corruption which is the cause of our
poverty. We can fight corruption. I have shown it in Immigration Commission. (4)
I have not allowed my words to overcome my deeds.
And, for those who think that I should withdraw
because I have once been a cancer patient, this is what I say, “I am now normal. I can think and I can act and I can
pray.” (5) No, you want me to quit?
You’ve been telling in fact that Miriam has already conceded. Imagine, she’s
rating even on radio? My reply, “I will never quit. I will never stop. I will
never withdraw.”
We all want to change the world for the better.
But the person who prayed should be emulated. He said, “God, preserve this country and begin with me.” (6)
Thank you.

COMMENTARY:

1). International
stature can be an edge because that would mean broad foreign studies that can
benefit the country and its people but not always beneficial because it even
compromises other sectors. For example, reproductive health bill which was
copied from abroad can allocate fund of P1.157-billion[1][2] which compromises quality education of the
poor because of poor classrooms and inadequate books as reported by Sen. Bong Bong Marcos, Jr.[3]
2). Academic
Excellence can also be an edge but does not guarantee good governance. This country has been ran by intellectuals
who finished degrees both locally and internationally but until now
corruption remains as a threat of the country’s good life. Conversely, 25 percent of the U.S.
Presidents (11 people) are not college graduate including George Washington
and Abraham Lincoln who are among the most prominent, but this country
becomes famous.

I will walk.
You have already heard the promises and stands of
the candidates. You have heard it
again, the old issues which are all accusations. Accusation, accusation, accusation which
has not convicted me but end up nothing.
As I’ve said, it is tough. They allegedly accused
me for not explaining. These people,
as I’ve said, one will pretend to be blind if one
perefers not to see. If one prefers
not to hear explanation, one will pretend to be a deaf. (1)
These promises are all nothing. Mostly of these promises and programs
either come from the candidates or typically from their advisers.
What is important is: does the one aiming for
presidency possesses the capacity to implement promises? Have a track record? Have experience? Even if experienced, all of these might
have been done negligibly.
Here is Jojo Binay, with the extensive experience,
no one will surpass me.
Experienced as servant in executive department in
our country.
I’ve been a Mayor for 21 years. The
problems that the president will face afre the problems that I faced when I
assumed post in Makati. (1)
When I took charge, people in
Makati were simply eating rice and anchovies.
Rice with soy sauce and golden lime only. With the right governance of Jojo Binay,
lives in Makati progress. Ask anyone
and you’ll find out that it is the life that is content, the life being in
Makati. (2)
Competence? My goodness, before that, after more
than 21 years as a mayor, I was a governor.
Concurrent to my being mayor, I was also appointed as governor. I
replaced Mrs. Marcos in Metro Manila Commission.
I became Chairman for three times MMC, MMA, MMDA.
I was chairman of the Development Authority.
I was chairman in shelter sector. I’ve been able to give lands particularly
here in shelter sector. I’ve been able
to provide many houses when I was chairman of NHA. (3)
But what I am permanently proud of is that I’ve been able to turn Pag-IBIG into one of the best –
one of the best government agencies. (4)
You have elected me as vice-president, and you
have not regret on voting me. Because
I accomplish all of the assignments given to me. My accomplishments were okay so far.
I’ve shown that I am an executive, I am an
administrator, I am a leader that makes the decisive decisions.
Now, what is also needed is he came from
impoverishment. I came from
poverty. I know laundry, marketing,
and ironing.
Nevertheless, I’ll accomplish all of them first,
and in saying as a president, I will always contemplate on how to develop the
life of every Filipino.
As a parting word, I would like to thank my
family for not leaving me despite the different criticisms that my candidacy
caused them.
I also thank the people of Makati for giving me
the opportunity to showcase Jojo Binay’s leadership.
I thank the agencies that I was able to help and
the calamity-affected areas. They have shown me that they’re with Jojo Binay.
It’s the leader’s responsibility to be with his countrymen through thick and
thin.
I am Jojo Binay. If there is BFF in
ABS-CBN......there’s likewise Binay Filipino Forever.
Jojo Binay for president.

1). The
moderator during the debate in Cebu disallowed any candidate to bring any
cheat sheet in the forum so the Vice President was not able to present his
documents pertaining to the accusations.
Now that he’s given again the chance to clear up allegations, he
refused to.Thus I consider this innumerable experiences as idealistic because
it’s tainted with uimmunerable imperfections as well, as disclosed. Thus his
extensive managerial exposures to different government agencies can be futile
because of this controversy.

Thank you very much to you all especially to
those who welcomed me and Leni in our visits around the country, those who
showed their supports, those who shook their hands, took care of us, hugged
us. It’s heartwarming. And your
heartfelt welcoming of us refreshes the reason why we’re fighting for the
country.
Thank you very much again, especially to the
people for watching today, for their shout-out.
Campaign is almost done, this is
the last debate. The campaign is winding down. It has been vicious and
divisive. Many are harmed: women, LGBT, persons with disabilities, senior
citizens. Frequently are the helpless. (1)
But this is not who we are as a people.
We are a generous people. We are warm. We are loving. We are supple. The
parents “Even with the food all ready for her to consume, the mother will
always find the need to still give every last morsel to her children.” (2)
We do with so much less because we
want our children to have more. And they deserve more. Every Filipino
deserves more. And that is what is at the root of our frustration. (3) Others
would use our frustration to deceive us, (4) to forget that we already have gone too far, to
forget who we are as Filipinos, to forget that the
genuine and useful transformation is attained not through blaming, insulting
or merely a soundbite. This happens
because it has been worked out. (5)
And this is what the elections have come down to.
The talkers versus the doers. Those that bring
out the worst in us versus those that bring out the best in us. (6)
Those who will burn everything that
we have sacrificed against those who will nourish and guard what we have
planted. (7)
We must stay the course because our
economy is already growing. This is what has turned us from the sick man of
Asia to Asia's bright star. (8)
Many are provided with jobs. Our
unemployment is at its lowest level in 10 years. (9)
We have built more classrooms (1) and hired
more teachers in the last five years than all the previous five
administrations combined. (10)
We’ve been able to save more than two
million of our countrymen from poverty. They’re no longer in the category of
poor. (2)
Environment has been developed and many more.
But you know what? This is only a foundation. The
best is yet to come. Another six years of honest,
decent, hardworking governance and we will arrive at what we’re aiming for. (11) Philippines that is developed and decent.
Full of opportunities, free from fear, and free to dream. This is progressive
and decent Philippines with integrity. God-fearing. That you can be proud of.
This is the Philippines that we’ve been fighting for. Great are our ancestors. Great is our country. This is a fight worth
fighting. This is a fight for our country.
I’m calling your attention. Rally to our
cause. Knock on them, we will talk to them, we will persuade our loved
ones….our acquaintances, friends, colleagues.
Let’s us bring the good news of our present state of affairs. (12)
Don’t be afraid. Let our voice be heard. This is the good
fight. This is a fight for decency, for honesty, for our future. (13)
On the 9th of May, prove to the entire
Philippines at to the whole world, we are still abundant of decent Filipinos.
We still have a plethora of good Filipinos. We’re
still in profusion of upright Filipinos. (14)
Join me. Let us triumph over in
this fight.
Thank you very much.

Socio-economic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan forecasted Philippine
poverty rate to be 18-20 percent by 2016,[4]
when President Benigno Aquino's term ends, which was originally projected at
16.6 percent of its 100 million people would still be living in poverty by
2016.
2). Sen.
Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. who is against the K to 12 program points at inadequate
school buildings materials, school supplies provided in public schools that
are below standard as areas of concern.[5]

To my countrymen here in Pangasinan, thank you
for your inspiration and for accepting us.
And to our countrymen around the Philippines, you are the reason why I
am here.
I’ve gone through a lot of trials in this
campaign. Nevertheless, when thinking
of it at an instance, I simply dwell on the objective why I am here, why I am
running. Because I never dreamed
this. Especially when I witnessed what
my father FPJ had gone through.
But for more than 100 million
Filipinos, only a few are given with the opportunity, hoping to contribute
for the future of our country in this way. (1)
Jessa, you are the reason why I am
here…because I have my daughter who is just like you. (2)
As a woman, as a mother, can you
take that there are still millions of children who are starving in our
country? (3) Can you
tolerate that the money that is supposedly for the medication of our sick
countrymen are pocketed or wasted in the wrong spending? (4) Can you
take no notice of the farmers who provide us food but can’t be provided with
food when they have no harvest? (5) Can you turn your back on the
teachers who leave to become domestic helpers in other country? (6)
Countrymen, there is a lot that we can for the
country. It might be me, or it’s not me
perhaps. But I should give the chance
on trying because I am a Filipino, we love our country. (7)
Others say: can a woman be capable of leading
amidst all of these difficulties that the country is facing? Is she adept on subjugating the crime on
drugs? Is she capable of fighting China and other threat of the country?
Countrymen, woman is patient. Women are tolerant. Women are loving. But when you place their
loved ones in menace, women do not give up.
Women fight for their husband from homewrecking. (8)
Still others say that I am
new. Right. But our problems are not new anymore, they
are still the same. (9) New
perspective might still be needed.
Nothing is bad about new. We like newly cooked, newly bathed, new
boyfriend…new country….new hope and new Philippines, where every child in
public elementary school can eat free lunch, (10) where poor children can finish
education, (11) where our farmers can have free irrigation, (12) where
merchants are attracted to invest in our country because we will fight
corruption, (13) where our allies will help because we are country that is
valuable in the community of other countries. (14)
Countrymen, to be honest, many
women should be given the opportunity in the government because we could
connect. We are taking care of our families. (15)
It’s true, (house pillar) – Home
needs light but most of all love, care aand protection are needed. Women are
capable. (16)
I’m doing this for you. I’m also
doing this for my children. We’ll be together for the the future that we will
be proud of, that we can be proud of in other country, in a country wherein not only a few are rich, wherein
not only a few are happy, wherein all
of us are together. (17)
Whether you’re white, red, yellow or whatever
color, we’re one after the election. A
Filipino who loves the country.
Thank youn very much.

As a newcomer to politics, I’m taking my doubts
that she could perform well drawn from her heartfelt promises. Based on the
past and present governance ran by
long time politicians, elderly, with expertise, academic honors and
education both locally and internationally, serving both the lowest and the
highest seats, corruption and injustice has been unbridled and whose values
are developed not by sincerest public service but by deceit. Thus, it’s perhaps the best time to
experiment on a proletarian.
She’s the only candidate who addresses the child
by mentioning her name on her message.
Hence, she’s a good listener.
